John Peacock Family. Great grandfather to Ruth Lucille Wright-McKinley-Gray

John Peacock and Malvina with children.  I discovered that this is John Peacock Jr.  I have noticed that a few other ancestry links have confused John Peacock Sr and Jr.  It is easy to tell because this is clearly labeled to show John and Malvina and the dates match to make him John Peacock Jr. The McKinley family is not related to Malvina.  They are related to his first wife Mary Miller.  Mary was the mother of Sarah Peacock who is Simeon Rufus Wright's mother.  So that would make her my Great great grandmother.

Above: John Jr. and Mary were parents to Sarah Peacock Wright ( born Oct 15, 1835) in Ohio. who was Simeon Rufus Wright's mother.  She died Feb 20, 1910 of a stroke and her father died the same year.  Sarah would have been 57 at the time of this picture and is not shown.  I found where Sarah had a brother John W. and a sister Mary.  I think her brother John is a Jr.  I remember seeing something about John Jr.  These could possibly be Malvina's children.  More research.

Back Lillie, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Amanda, Dora.  Front row: Charles, John Peacock Jr. (1812-1910) and Malvina (Dolan) Peacock.  Picture taken in 1892, Mapleton, Iowa.  John was married to a Mary Miller who was born in Pennsylvania.  She died in 1889.  He married Malvina in 1890 so I don't know how many of these kids are from his first marriage and how many are Malvina's.  Lily, Charlotte, Elizbeth, Amanda, Dora, Charles, John and Malvina.. They didn't have any together because Malvina had to be about 56 when they got married. I think it was his father, John Peacock was born in Newcastle, Northumberland, England or North Shield.  His father was John Peacock (1789-1789) and his mother: Sarah Francis Jones (1799-1844)

Above: Close up of John William Peacock Jr.  He was born 18 MAY 1813.
He was born in Kingston Upon Hull, Kingston upon Hull Unitary Authority, East Riding of Yorkshire, Eng.  He married Married Mary Miller (1815-1889).  He and Mary had 2 children, Sarah and Mathilda.  I never read that he and Mary were divorced but John married Malvena Dolan (1830-    ) on May 11, 1854.  She would have been 24 and the first wife 39.  Looks like he traded his first wife for a younger model.  His first wife Mary Miller didn't die until 1889.  John and Malvina went on to have 9 children.  They were buried in Grant
Cemetery in Ticonic, Iowa.

This letter has to do with John Peacock Sr.  I have never heard if anyone ever got the money yet.

Above:  This is a picture of John Peacock but I don't know if he is the father or the son, but I think he is Senior John Peacock.  Thank goodness it doesn't look like anyone in our family took after them.

This is John Peacock Jr. 1812-1910.  He was born in Hull, England and came to America May 28, 1818, to Philadelphia, PA. He would have only been 6 years old. I read on the passenger crew list they brought 5 boxes clothing, three cooks furnishings and pots, churns and two boxes of bedding.  I can't read it very well, but I think that's what it said.   I have not verified this for sure, but it shows he had a brother Joseph (1852?) and a sister Levina (1829?)  He was married first to Mary Miller (B-1815-D-1889) on Aug 2, 1832.  Mary was 22 when they got married.   (I found their marriage cert.)  I can't figure out all of their children, but I think they had 2 children, Sarah (B-Oct 15, 1835. D-Feb 20, 1910) and Mathilda. I found Sarah's death cert with info.  I don't know what happened, but he married Malvina Dolan Peacock May 11, 1854.  Malvina was born 1830 or 1834 and died in 1931. Maybe it is a case of Sister wives?  Or maybe I haven't discovered they were Mormons.  Or they came to America and caught "divorce." It appears she was 24 years or younger when they married.  I was told she had children from a previous marriage.  I am telling a story I heard, but John's family was from England and their family was well to do.  Story goes that when he died his biological children tried to get the inheritance but could not because of the step siblings.  They would have to sign papers and they refused according to the story.  Sooo.. who knows?  Last I heard the step siblings live in Chicago and have regular reunions.

ChinaWright 17 yrs
This is the only picture I have of China Francis Wright.  I was told she disappeared when she was around 18.  This picture was taken when she was about 17.  She is the sister of Simeon Rufus Wright.  Her grandparents are Sarah Peacock and John Peacock. Malvina Dolan Peacock would have been her step- mother.

I have some info on John Peacock Sr.  He was an only child.
John Peacock Sr was born in 1790, the son of Ann and Henry. He Married Sarah Francis Jones in 1810 and had one son in 1812, John William Peacock Jr. John Jr. was born in England. John and Sarah arrived in the port of Philadelphia with John Jr. May 28, 1818, from England. He died on January 28, 1858, at the age of 68.

Documents on Carol McKinley side

This is Russell Orr McKinley SS number.  Father of Robert (Bob), Carol, Richard and Russell Lee.
His biological father is Lloyd Andrews although I have not found a birth certificate yet.  The question remains: Did Albertus George McKinley adopt Russell and Kenneth?  Grandpa's SS number was issued as Russell Orr McKinley but when the first SS numbers came out in November 1936 the only requirements to obtain a number was:
The original 1936 version of the SS-5 requested the following information:
  • Employee name
  • Employee address
  • Name of current employer
  • Employer address
  • Age of employee
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Sex
  • Color
  • U.S. Employment Service (USES) registration card number, if applicable
  • Date and place of previously completed an SS-5, if applicable
  • Completion date for current SS-5
  • Signature (SSA 1990)

This is the death certificate for Russell Orr McKinley.  He was 54 years old. He was working for Inter-Mountain Construction Company out of Kansas City, Kansas.  Cause of death is listed as: Suffocation due to crushing ____ of chest.  If you can read the missing word, let me know.
Look under Russell Orr McKinley to see the newspaper article that tells about his death.

This is the death certificate of Charles Wesley Wright.  Born Jan 23, 1878.  Died May 1, 1922.  He was 43 years old when he died and according to my records, an older brother to Simeon Rufus Wright (Ruth Gray's father).  He was born in Albany, MO and buried in Ashland cemetery.  He was a locomotive engineer and died in Buchanan County, St. Joseph MO.  I can't read the cause of death completely, but I think it says, _____ism (maybe rheumatism misspelled)  Scald and ____ __ of /RR collision.  Let me know if anyone can figure out what the cause is.  The death cert. says his father was E. W. Wright.  But my records show Peter Wright.  So, I will have to research this more.  His mother was Sarah Peacock.  His address listed was 3831 King Hill Ave. St. Joseph Missouri.  Might be a fun trip to see this home.

This is land document from John Peacock Senior but even when I blow it up, I can't read it.  But it does exist.

April 28, 1905. This is the marriage license for Margaret Ethel Orr (Born December 1, 1886, in Union County, Indiana.  Died July 28, 1982. and buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas) and Lloyd Andrews (born 1884). They were married in Wyandotte County, KS.  Looks like she was already about 4 months pregnant. They had 2 children:
Russell Orr McKinley born Sept 21, 1905. (Father of Carol Marie McKinley Wilson) and Kenneth Eugene McKinley born 1907.  Margaret and Lloyd divorced, and Margaret married Albertus George McKinley.  I have not found adoption records for Russell and Kenneth, but they were raised as McKinley.

This is an assessment for Simeon Rufus Wright (Born April 1, 1863 and died Jan 20, 1949).  This is the father of Ruth Wright McKinley Gray.  Notice he was born on April fools.  He is the father of Ruth Lucille Wright or grandma Gray as we know her.  Simeon was 51 years old at the time of this assessment and indicated he only had a 6th grade education.  He was manager of the Colonial Hotel in Omaha, Nebraska.  His yearly earnings was, $1500.  His home or farm was worth $2000.

Obituary for Eugene Perry Wilson.  It states he was born to William Norman and Anna Belle Simms Wilson but that is not true.  Eugene was over 2 years old when Norman and Anna were married.  Floyd Wiggins is the biological father of Eugene but Norman met and married Anna Belle after the baby was born.

This is the only picture the family had of Floyd Wiggins. He is Eugene Perry                                         Wilson's biological father.

Dad with Larry and Linda and Boxer, Patsy, in the "bottoms."  Mom said she had Larry bend over her knee and raised her hand to give him a spanking and Patsy gently put her mouth on mom's hand to stop her.  I don't think the dog won though.
Story from Mom:
Mom said when they were first married, they lived in “the bottoms”.  I guess it flooded there quite a bit.  They had a dog named Patsy when Larry and I were little.  Larry was born while dad was in the service in California.  Mom was pregnant with me when they came back to Missouri.  She said they didn’t have any running water.  Dad had to haul water in a big trash can.  She had to wash her cloth diapers without a running water.
